Strictly Business started her life as a circuit racer .
Original
owners Mike Curtin and Bryan Clinnick chose a 16ft6in Sawcraft
hull (possessed by something not of this world) matched with a NASTY
304 Holden .
Some
would say that this was a match made in Hell with the 560 hp
constantly trying to flip the hull . The major advantage of the
Sawcraft is that it loves to turn left , a big plus in anti
clockwise circuit racing .
After
a very successful stint in circuits the phsycotic brains behind
Strictly Business felt they should take it to another level
and threw a couple of pieces of string out the back with the hope
of conning any number of like minded people to wrap-up and hang
on .
During
the next few seasons Strictly Business gained a reputation
as a very reliable and successful (sometimes ugly looking) racer
, with many skiers lining up to be towed behind the boat that has
become affectionately known as STRICTLY .
1999
saw Strictly come under new ownership by a team ready and
willing to take over where Mike & Bryan had left off (sometimes
a hard reputation to uphold) .
In
what could be classed as a learning curve for the new team the 1st
year was spattered with minor success . Fortunately Mike & Bryan
were there for advice and the occasional running repair .
The
following year saw more success mixed with engine development that
would set the way for the future . All the hard work started to
pay off with race wins starting to come along more often culminating
with an Australian Title in 5.2 litre class.
With
the engine development program now in full swing the team had proven
they were serious and very competitive . Minor success in the River
Races set the trend for the year ahead with back to back wins in
The Barry Carne Memorial Race Meeting & another Australian
Title .
With
2002 being upset by the insurance problems came the opportunity
for probably the biggest decision of all , to put the original Strictly
Business in the newly opened Ski Racing Museum in Pearcedale
Victoria .
The
teams new acquisition is a Bullet hull which has already proven
itself with the 304 Holden engine that proved to be such
a strong work LION for these past years . Now with
the 2003-2004 season fast approaching the race is well and truly
on to have the new ? litre engine ready to take STRICTLY
BUSINESS RACING to the pinnacle of this sport that brings so
much enjoyment to so many of us .
